Critical Movie Details You (Should Not Have) Missed!

It wouldn't be fair to start this article without warning you that we may just ruin your favorite movies of all time. Even in a perfect world such as we see on screen, there is still room for mistakes and once you notice them, some things just can't be unseen.

So if you're brave enough, we've compiled a list of some of the most devastating plot holes. Ready? Let's get critical, critical...

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (2002)

If you’re truly committed to the movement that is Harry Potter, then you should have picked up this error by yourself. Luckily, we’re here to help.

When Dumbledor delegates his new rules, one of them is that, from now on, “all students must be accompanied by a teacher to a lesson”.

Contrastingly, in a later scene, it shows a classroom with 9 teachers and 280 students, so we don’t really see how that rule is even possible.

See more movie details you missed:

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

This movie stole the hearts of pretty much everyone who got to see it. We may have been so busy falling in love with Salim’s character, that we didn’t notice the little details.

When Salim settles into his bathtub filled with money, where on earth did he manage to hide it? You can’t tuck that amount into your pocket, so how did he conceal it?

Batman Begins (2005)

The child that was with Dawes was supposed to have inhaled the fumes which made him scared of everyone.

This kid wasn’t even scared of Rachel. It could be because she was with him, but even if that’s the case, he wasn’t scared of Batman either.

Hacksaw Ridge (2016)

Sargeant Howell and his soldiers are moving forward as the Japanese pillbox puts them under heavy fire. Howell then decides to blow a bazooka on the pillbox blowing it to history.

This only revealed a hidden pillbox behind the first, with a machine gun killing more of Howell’s soldiers.

Instead of putting an end to their situation by ordering another bazooka attack, the Sargeant decides to rather send two men crawling toward the pillbox, even though they are already under heavy fire.

We can’t call ourselves war experts, but seriously that makes no tactical sense at all.

Batman VS. Superman- The Dawn Of Justice (2016)

Batman’s suit was supposedly able to protect him from pretty much everything, we saw this when a goon shot at his head and he remained unharmed.

If his suit is so strong, why did it fail to protect him from a dog attack? Or when another goon stabs him? How do you explain that one Batman?

Pitch Perfect (2012)

Perhaps we were too focused on how hilarious and fun this movie was to pick up on the errors. When Aubrey and Chloe are trying to recruit members, they make it clear that they need eight girls in order to compete in the ICCA’s.

When they make their performance at Regionals, the team before the Bellas only has eight members and the Sockapellas only have six.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)

One thing made clear about Alice’s powers, is that she cannot have visions of werewolves and hybrids.

At the end of the movie, it is shown that she has a vision of Jacob and Renesmee in the future. Whoops!

King Arthur (2014)

We hope pointing out this error doesn’t take away from how great this movie was. However, what we noticed here is factually inaccurate.

It seems very contradictory to send a member of the Roman aristocracy and his family members to live in unclaimed land, which is not defended by the Roman Army. That’s just asking for trouble.

Blood Diamond (2006)

At the beginning of the film, Danny is arrested by the Liberian border guards when crossing the border from Sierra Leone to Liberia.

Surely that would mean he would end up in a prison in Liberia and not in Sierra Leone where he meets Solomon.

The Last Airbender (2010)

When Zuko takes Aang onto his shop, Iroh places a rock, a lit candle, and water in front of him. All three elements then pull towards him which show he is an Avatar.

However, Aang happens to walk by many rocks, water, and fire without anything having a reaction to him.

The Princess and the Frog

When Charlotte gives Prince Naveen a kiss, the spell doesn’t work. She does not end up turning into a frog like Tiana did.

She should’ve turned into a frog because she kissed him after midnight which would also mean she is no longer the princess of Mardi Gras.

Pandorum (2009)

When the ship reached its destination, it had already been there for 800 years.

The fact that all systems are still functioning and that there is still edible food is never explained and doesn’t make sense.

I Am Legend (2007)

When Neville is in his basement lab, he is trying his serum on an infected female subject. He then reads her vital signs which mention that her core temperature is 106° Fahrenheit.

A core temperature of this magnitude would cause significant and irreversible brain damage, making a cure moot. Let’s be honest though, we were all too busy crying over that heart-breaking dog scene to notice.

Bolt (2008)

The director is upset because a boom microphone is visible in the frame and "the dog could have seen that."

Irrespective of what was captured, the microphone and its operator were out in the open on the set itself and Bolt could have seen them during filming, even if they were edited out later.

Brokeback Mountain (2005)

Ennis receives Jack's first postcard which is sent by general delivery because Jack didn't know Ennis's address. When Ennis writes back all he says is, "You bet," and leaves no return address, which implies that Jack still doesn't know where he lives.

In the next scene, Jack arrives at Ennis's apartment which is pretty absurd considering he doesn’t have the address.

Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)

Before Ethan jumps into the cooling system, he is informed of the metal-detecting system. Thus, he cannot bring in oxygen tanks.

We then see Ethan inside the system wearing a sleeve with a computer-based screen showing his vital signs. This screen and computer would not be possible without metal.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (2003)

It is made clear to us, that without the Ring, Bilbo ages at a rapid pace.

If that is the case, then it is not explained to us as to why the same effect doesn’t happen for Gollum.

The Jungle Book (2016)

This movie got us all too excited, to experience a tale as old as time, being brought to life with all our incredible technology. However, they failed to remain consistent with the idea that all animals were talking.

For some unknown reason, the monkeys, buzzards, bees, and little fox-like creatures are unable to speak.

Wall-E (2008)

In this film, the earth is shown to be a desert planet where all water sources are totally dried up.

Later on in the movie, there is a torrential downpour rainfall. Don’t worry, we were devastated to learn this as well.

Home Alone (1990)

We’re not sure if our 90’s babies will remember this one but, in the scene where a policeman shows up to pick up Kevin and bring him to his family, he kept knocking until he decided no one was home.

In reality, a policeman wouldn't think no one is home when Kevin was in the house as they would actually get him to get out of the house so that they could bring him to his family.

Fight Club (1999)

This is not necessarily a plot hole, but it’s a detail most of you probably never noticed.

This warning is typically used to warn people of the consequences of copywriting. In this case, they decided to remain fully committed to the theme of the film.

Fargo (1996)

We not sure if this was on purpose, but now that we see it, it’s impossible not to pay attention.

This quote is said in the exact time of the movie, when there are in fact, 30 minutes left of the actual film!

Star Trek (2009)

You have to admire their creativity on this one. To be honest, most bathroom accessories today do kind of look like they’re from space.

During one of the action-packed scenes, we noticed that a Dyson Hand Dryer is used as Space Age Enterprise Technology.

Finding Dory (2016)

The sequel to Finding Nemo had us all excited to continue the underwater journey with our favorite characters.

In the after-credit scene Jaque, the cleaner shrimp, proves to be committed to the role by being in the cleanest bag of them all.

Aladdin (1992)

During the scene where Aladdin is wowing Jasmine with “a whole new world”, he throws an apple at her.

Throwing an apple at a woman, in Ancient Greece, is a way of proposing. Very romantic?

Evan Almighty (2007)

If you didn’t get Morgan Freeman to play G-d in the movie, then did you even have a G-d in the film at all?

Morgan remains committed to his role when posing as G-d in the film, Evan Almighty. His name tag even says ‘Al Mighty’.

Unthinkable (2010)

This American thriller film had us all on the edge of our seats when the story involved having to defuse a bomb.

They may have lost our belief a little when they decided to use Excel Spreadsheet as the savior software.

Beauty And The Beast (2017)

The modern remake of this film had us all going on a trip down memory lane. What amazed us most was the accuracy and the effort put into small details.

When Cogsworth comes to life, his mustache is uneven, just like the hands of a clock.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)

When a film has a few sequels, it is essential that the producers remember all the small details along the way.

The Clock on top of Grand Central Station has been replaced with a memorial to first responders. The original was destroyed in the first Avengers film during the Battle Of New York.

American Beauty (1999)

In the film, there is a scene where Lester is robotically doing his job and we can see his reflection on his computer screen.

It was later revealed, that his reflection almost looks as if it is behind bars, this is to show he feels imprisoned in his day to day work.

IT (2017)

If any of you were brave enough to see Stephen King’s remake of ‘It’, there may be a detail you were too petrified to notice.

Pennywise the clown can be seen painted on one of the town's murals. Creepy stuff!

Titanic (1997)

The film ‘Titanic’ attempted to depict the real-life event of the tragic event when the Titanic ship crashed and sank.

At the end of the film, the clock reads ’02:20’. The actual Titanic ship sank at 02:20 A.M.

Cars (2006)

The film ‘Cars’ attempted to depict a life where all machines are alive.

Even the truck shop advertises ‘convertible waitresses’.

Toy Story (1995)

When characters are animated it’s truly impressive when they appear again in the sequel.

Sid from Toy Story also happens to be the garbage man in Toy Story 3.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

One of the most repetitive situations we see in Pulp Fiction is that Vincent Vega is constantly on the toilet.

This is because one of the side effects of heroin abuse is constipation. Now that’s a commitment to the script.

Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)

The characters can be seen with stripes on their legs.

Each stripe represents a crime they once did in the past.

Men in Black 2 (2002)

If you’ve seen any of the Men In Black movies, then you’re already familiar with the talking pug, Frank.

When Agent J goes back to the year 1969, he gets pulled over by the police in front of a billboard, which advertises a circus featuring a talking pug.

Frozen (2013)

The movie ‘Frozen’ became an instant hit once it was released. That being said, we still doubt many stayed to watch until the end of the credits.

Right at the end, there is a statement regarding Kristoff’s belief that all men eat their own boogers.

Toy Story 2 (1999)

In the first scene of the movie, we see a backdrop with stars. However, if you look closely, there is a detail you might have missed.

The legendary Pixar lamp can be seen in the stars.

Monsters, Inc. (2001)

You may not have noticed this tiny detail, so we’ll give you a clue. Take a close look at Boo’s toys on the floor.

Jesse from Toy Story is one of her dolls.

Hercules (1997)

Pay close attention to the rug/crown Hercules throws over himself.

That’s right, it’s Scar from The Lion King.

The Lego Movie (2014)

In the film, Benny- The 1980 something space guy, has a crack in his helmet which was attempted to be fixed with glue.

This was an actual problem with the original toy's construction of the helmet, causing kids to either fix it with glue or leave it cracked.

The Dark Knight (2008)

In this film, Bruce Wayne drives a Lamborghini Murciélago.

Not only is this gorgeous vehicle pleasing to the eye but, the word ‘Murciélago’ means ‘Bat’ in Spanish.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Nick Fury's tombstone has a special detail added to it.

It has the Ezekiel verse from Samuel L Jackson's Character In Pulp Fiction.

Spiderman: Homecoming (2017)

Sometimes the most gentle situations can cause us to drop our phones and end off with a nice fat crack on the screen. The same should apply to superheroes when they’re busy saving the world.

In this film, Peter Parker’s phone gets more and more cracked after each battle he fights.

Jurassic World (2015)

Notice anything familiar about the vehicles in the original movie vs. the sequel?

That’s right, the vehicle used to escape in Jurassic World is the same vehicle that was used to bring people in, in Jurassic Park.

Space Jam (1996)

In Space Jam, Marvin the Martian is made referee for the iconic match.

This is because he is both a toon and an alien, thus he is the most likely to remain impartial.

Shrek 2 (2004)

In Shrek 2, the king’s room is decorated with swamp-like colors. This is because later in the movie, we learn that he was once a frog.

His backboard on the bed resembles a frog. He also has a rug with him which looks like a lily pond.

Ratatouille (2007)

We were all put on edge when Remy gets spotted by a dog.

Maybe we were too busy panicking for Remy to notice that the dog in the shadow, is Doug from the movie ‘Up’.

Snakes On A Plane (2006)

During the film, the flight is in a state of panic. One of the flight attendants is faced with a snake and instantly throws it in the microwave.

Luckily the microwave she uses has a preset button labeled ‘snake’. How convenient!
