In 1978, CBS released what is considered the worst ever episode The Star Wars Holiday Special. It featured the original cast along with comedians like Harvey Korman and Art Carney. For years, no one watched it because it was terrible, no one could tolerate it, and eventually, you could not find it because Lucasfilm buried it, keeping it out of circulation. You could only get a copy if it was bootlegged.
According to USA Today, It’s coming back as of 2020 and has, supposedly, been revived. This episode called LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will premier on Disney+ featuring the cast from the Disney trilogy including Poe, Rey, and Finn celebrating Life Day which was the silly Wookiee celebration first introduced in the Holiday Special in 1978.
The new episode takes place after “The Rise of Skywalker: and the scenario is approximate:
Rey and his droid friend BB-8 take off on a quest to find out more about the Force. Unfortunately, their visit to the mysterious Jedi Temple has them moving wildly through space and time. Rey does communicate with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Won Kenobi, Yoda, and various other characters in the most beloved moments, while they attempt to return in time for the Life Day feast with their friends on Chewbacca’s Wookiee world of Kashyyyk.
The LEGO Star Wars cartoons and games are excellent because they take cheap shots at the franchise, never taking it seriously. Therefore, Life Day should be the best setting for their form of comedy. The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will premier on Disney+ as of November 17.
