Carter became famous in the 1990s following in the footsteps of their older brother Nick. He had to compete with his brother throughout his musical career. The latter was a member of the successful American boy band Backstreet Boys. In 1997 he and his band The Jets opened for the then immensely popular group. That earned him a record deal. An album came out the same year that did well outside the United States. It sold millions of copies. The album featured his first single Crush On You. His second album, "Aaron's Party," did even better.
