Can you never seem to keep your hands off your face when you notice unevenness? We have put together a few tips for you to kick the habit!
Skin Picking
Are you familiar with the term skin picking? It refers to the urge to pick at your face. You do this with pimples, blackheads, or bumps. Sometimes it can become a habit, but this behavior is better left alone. By scratching your skin a lot, your skin gets damaged. This also happens, for example, when you try to squeeze out a pimple that is not yet ready. This leads to wounds or scars, making your skin even more sensitive. People often touch their skin when they are stressed, anxious, or simply bored. Touching your skin gives you psychological relief, but it is short-lived. So the best remedy is to stay away from your skin as much as possible, but how should you go about it?
It's important to find out at what times you are especially picking. For example, do you do it when you're under a lot of stress, or is boredom the biggest factor? Once you know this, you can work on it effectively. You can think of alternative activities you can do when you feel restless or just bored. Consider squeezing a ball, playing a game, or calling a friend. This way, you'll make sure you're less likely to be tempted to start picking your skin. You can also provide more peace of mind through yoga or meditation exercises. It can also help to temporarily cover pimples or bumps by, for example, applying aloe vera gel. The temptation to pick at a pimple will be reduced.
