Last Friday, Tom Brady confirmed after weeks of rumors that he and Gisele Bündchen are indeed divorcing. The 42-year-old model and the 45-year-old American football legend have been married for thirteen years.
"In recent days, we have made our divorce final," Brady said in a post on Instagram. "We parted amicably and look back gratefully on our time together."
The former couple will share custody. "We have been blessed with wonderful children who remain most important to both of us. We will continue to be their parents together and are going to do everything we can to give them the love and attention they deserve."
Brady reveals that the decision was difficult, but that they wish each other the very best.
Bündchen, who was previously in a relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, has been seen without a wedding ring a few times recently. That sparked the rumor that their marriage is over. She also posted a suggestive message on Instagram: "You can't have a good relationship with someone who behaves inconsistently," the model wrote.
Bündchen and Brady were together for more than 15 years and have a daughter Vivian and a son Benjamin together. At the time the top model and the NFL icon first met, they were both already immensely popular. But once they were together, their fame soared to unprecedented heights.
Bündchen deliberately stepped back in 2015 to focus on her family and some smaller projects.
