Flintstones TV sequel in development at FoxBy Jennifer
As one of the most beloved cartoons of the 1990s, The Flintstones has fans of all ages and lifestyles. The show managed to pack in a lot of prehistorically-themed comedy that is sure to inspire plenty of laughs. And unlike many of its contemporaries, the show itself has still aged pretty well. This should give you ample confidence, then, that the new Flintstones TV sequel in development at Fox should be pretty good!
While many fans of TV shows tend to worry about the success of new content for old shows, this one is looking pretty awesome. The show was a major inspiration for many cartoons and animations. This new, updated run is going to inspire plenty of new directors, then, as the latest show development by Fox looks pretty nifty.
The agreement between Fox and Warner Bros. Animation is sure to become a major talking point as the sequel, called Bedrock, looks to build on all of the awesome tropes that exist within the show. It will be built around the grown-up lives of Pebbles, as well as old Fred and Wilma Flintstone.
Pebbles will be voiced by show producer Elizabeth Banks, so there is plenty of opportunity for some prime-time comedy to shine through on this one. Speaking about the new show was Michael Thorn, the President of Fox Entertainment.
Speaking about the new show, he said: Long before the Simpsons and Springfield, the Griffins and Quahog or even when the Belchers started serving burgers on Ocean Avenue, there were the Flintstones and Bedrock. Their imprint on the animation universe is undeniable and the idea of adapting it for today’s audience is a challenge we here at FOX are very much looking forward to taking on with Warner Bros., Elizabeth and Lindsay. No pressure whatsoever, really.”
For fans who love the show, this looks to be a pretty exiting new announcement! What do you think?
