From royal gowns to Hollywood couture, the wedding scene has a lot to oogle and ogle these days. And why not stare, ladies and gents? The most famous dresses become as memorable as the ceremony, to the delight of designers! With worldwide tabloid viewing, veils, trains, and jewels have never, ever been so luxe.
Movie stars and models set the trends, beyond the red carpet. What really meets the standard for A-listers to feel extra beautiful on their special day is a sight to be seen! Who really wins the fashion contest, though?
It’s time to compare, contrast, and drool over top lace and luxury!
Lea Michele
It took some hard times to overcome, but Lea Michele's happy day is here! She married her boyfriend Zandy Reich in front of close friends and family in California. It took almost six years to get to this moment after the death of Cory Monteith, her former boyfriend. Congratulations, Lea!
For her wedding dress, she chose a clean and classic strapless silhouette, a draped bodice, and a layered skirt. Her hair, makeup, and jewelry were very simple.
She put her hair back in a tied-up chignon, and the veil was transparent the whole way down. Très chic! Unsurprisingly, People Magazine had the exclusive.
Victoria Beckham
It was 19 years ago that Spice Girl Victoria Beckham tied the knot to football star David Beckham. But unlike most high-profile celeb couples, these two are as loving as ever and it's amazing to see!
And while these things have not changed, looking at her wedding dress tells us a lot. It is hard to believe how much her style has evolved since then!
The satin strapless gown by Vera Wang clung to her chest and shot out into a huge skirt, a way more innocent and sweet look than her fierce fashion of today. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!
Hilary Duff
There is a reason that Vera Wang is the most popular celeb wedding dress designer around, just look at this exquisite gown custom made for the beautiful Hilary Duff and while her marriage may not have lasted, this gown will always go down as one of the best.
Hilary had a clear vision for her dress, “I wanted something that was deconstructed, not perfect and prim and proper,” and that is exactly what she got, a breathtakingly beautiful blush silk tulle and organza mermaid gown.
Solange Knowles
This stunning gown, created by Humberto Leon for Kenzo, pushed fashion boundaries and had everyone marveling at the simplicity and elegance of Beyonce’s beautiful baby sis.
Her bridal party also donned all white, which resulted in a group of exquisite and strong Knowles women looking like fierce angels.
But none could take their eye off Solange with her natural stunning hair, red lips, and peaceful demeanor as she said her ‘I do’s’ to music producer Alan Ferguson. Congrats, you two!
Kim Kardashian
This bride from behind is Kim Kardashian, probably one of the most desired and well-known women of the era.
So when it was time for her second wedding to the equally famous and somewhat notorious Kanye West, the wedding ridiculousness was on full display. Private jets, famous friends, and of course, the dress (or dresses) were hard to miss!
For her walk down the aisle, Kimmy K donned a couture Givenchy gown with long lace sleeves, a mermaid silhouette, and a cathedral-long veil that looked like it never ends.
Of course, this was the first of the gowns. The bride slipped into a beautiful, but less dramatic mini-dress for the reception. No one is surprised Kim needed a stage two!
Hold to your vows, there are many more...
Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek was a vision when she walked down the aisle to future husband and millionaire CEO, Francois-Henri Pinault.
For the lavish affair at the Venice opera house, the bride took the plunge in this fashion-forward Balenciaga wedding gown by Nicolas Chesquire with her hair swept back into a bun and a long veil. Salma, yes!
Marcia Cross
The Desperate Housewives star, Marcia Cross, looked desperately beautiful in her custom-made Reem Acra gown when she walked down the aisle back in 2006 to wed her long-time love Tom Mahoney.
Cross’s leap to married life was done in ultimate style, she accessorized her glorious gown with a cathedral-long veil and platinum and diamond jewelry, "Walking up the aisle was a glorious moment. I was just so happy," says Cross.
Happy and absolutely breath-taking!
Dianna Agron
When Dianna the beloved Glee star got hitched to Mumford and Sons Winston Marshall, we witnessed the ultimate Moroccan style in a drawn-out ceremony. Rather than opt for a traditional white dress, Agron went full-on middle eastern princess.
The actress wore a nude chiffon gown straight from the runway, and we're not complaining. This $25,500 Valentino number was complete with embroidering sequins and beading that glittered with every step.
She completed the look with a crown of silver stars, perfectly complementing the dress. Dianna, we do!
Ciara
She got married in a castle to her prince charming. And she did it all in a fairy-tale wedding gown!
Ciara and NFL player Russel Wilson had a wedding day as close to perfection as it gets, and her Roberto Cavalli wedding dress was the cherry on the top.
The corset dress with sheer lace sleeves and hints of boho made the bride look like a princess. It helped that Ciara and dress designer Peter Dunda are close friends because this was clearly a labor of love!
Charlotte Casiraghi
Congratulations to the beautiful granddaughter of the late Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco. Charlotte Casiraghi said ‘I do’ to film producer Dimitri Rassam in Monaco’s royal palace. Fun fact: This is the very same place where Grace Kelly wed Prince Rainier in 1956.
The regal bride was spotted with a vintage Cartier diamond tiara necklace that her grandmother received as a wedding present back in the day. She wore a strapless gown with a chic twist. Splendid choices, Miss Charlotte!
Quentin Tarantino & Daniella Pick

Daughter of the famous Lenny and working actress, Zoë Kravitz is totally taken now! Her wedding to actor Karl Glusman happened in a secret civil ceremony, but she wanted a public event later on. A month later, the couple tied the knot at dad's home in Paris. It happens to be a 3-story 18th century mansion!
On Instagram, Zoë posted her ballerina-inspired wedding gown. Some people claim it was designed by Alexander Wang, but that is unconfirmed. The fashion mystery continues, for now. Dress detectives, solve this one ASAP!

Amy and Chris gave their guests an unusual request, which has now become a trend among celebrities: don't bring gifts, but donate to a cause. Each star seems to have a pet movement these days!. Amy requested donations to Everytown for Gun Safety. Interesting move, you two!
Gwen Stefani
Although Gwen and her musician ex-husband Gavin Rossdale ended their nearly 14-year marriage in 2015, we can still look back at their wedding for style inspiration. Check out her gorgeous wedding dress, everybody!
Gwen went for a classic gown with a twist, dip-dyed in blush pink!It is this feature that really pushes the wedding fashion boundary and lands it at the top of the list. And we’re not the only ones that love it!
The Victoria and Albert Museum held a bridal expedition and included this dress in their exhibit. Not surprising, is it?

Portia De Rossi
It was a fairy-tale-worthy wedding gown, complete with a backless, halter-style bodice and a ballgown blush skirt. It combined modernity and romance and pushed boundaries with its pink bluish while somehow still staying traditional.
Portia De Rossi was indeed glowing when she tied the knot to Ellen DeGeneres, and it was not just De Rossi’s gown to push boundaries.
These two were one of the first gay couples to tie the knot once the California Supreme Court struck down the law banning same-sex marriages. Now that is what I call double women power!
Julianne Hough
Another blonde beauty tied the knot in 2017, people! Actress and dancer Julianne Hough stunned in a classic strapless Marchesa design by Georgina Chapman and Karen Craig for her ‘ I do’s’ to Brooks Laich.
The dress featured 20 yards of silk radzimir and 37 buttons down the back. She added an extra glam touch to the dress with a long-tiered tulle veil. Romantic, and we love it!
Meghan Markle
Lots of speculation swirled around Megan for months regarding her wedding dress. When she finally showed up, everybody gasped. Her dress was entirely unexpected!
Kensington Palace released a statement: "Ms. Meghan Markle’s wedding dress has been designed by the acclaimed British designer, Clare Waight Keller. Ms. Waight Keller last year became the first female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy."
But Waight Keller was not the first choice, according to some insiders. Rumors persisted that the dress would be designed by Ralph & Russo. Do you think she made the right choice in the end?
Sophie Turner
Sophie and Joe, say it's so! Fans were overjoyed to see this Jonas brother pair off with such a charming Brit, and the dress was to die for. Lots of lace, from the sleeves to the veil really seemed to suit the occasion.
But which occasion? Their legal ceremony took place long before the big day for guests. They tied the knot in Vegas to make it official! The second aisle was in France, and a lot more planning was involved. Now, all three Jonas Brothers are off the market! Sorry, ladies.
Lily Aldridge
Lily Aldridge is usually clad in nothing but lingerie and Angel wings. But when it came to her big day, this Victoria Secret model donned a Vera Wang gown and looked every bit as breath-taking as she does on the runway.
The stunning custom designed gown was a strapless number with layers of lace and swirling chiffon. Although it sounds over-the-top, it looked just perfect on her tiny physique!
Princess Diana
Okay so the puffy sleeves, ruffles, and silk taffeta might be out of style now, but back then gown complete with 10,000 tiny pearls were fitting for the most beautiful and classic princess to walk down the aisle.
It is remembered by the designer that every time she turned up for a fitting, she had lost more weight, to the point where she had to actually be sewn into her bodice when it came to her wedding day all those years ago.
Jada Pinkett Smith
Ah, who could forget Will and Jada? When these two wed more than 20 years ago, secrecy was the name of the game. And after dating for a couple of years, the couple was engaged and pregnant. The race for a wedding was on.
To make sure it was kept secret and not leaked to the media, no invitations were sent! Guests were just told to arrive at their hotel in Baltimore and were given an envelope with directions to hand to their limo drivers.
Jada looked like picture of perfection in a long-sleeved, high necked champagne velvet gown designed by Badgley Mishka. The groom wore a matching Badgley Mishka suit! The Smiths have been fashion forward power couple ever since, and we're not complaining in the least!
Ivanka Trump
These days she is something of a political powerhouse, but back then she was just the daughter of hotel mogul Donald Trump tying the knot to Jared Kushner and looking breathtakingly beautiful doing it.
Ivanka converted to Judaism to marry Kushner and therefore required a more covered-up style while still wanting to emulate the Grace Kelly wedding dress.
She turned to the iconic designer Vera Wang who was happy to oblige stating "I seized on the chance to do a dress that wasn't naked.”
Carolyn Bassette
She would become an almost cult-like fashion goddess and cultural enigma, but when the still unknown Carolyn Bassette tied the knot to John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1996, she cemented herself as a fashion-forward political wife in a simple bias-cut silk dress.
Bassette asked her close friend Narciso Rodriguez to design the dress, and it launched his career in a big way. Unlike the wedding designer's long and prosperous future, things spiraled downward for Caroline.
Sadly, her life would end roughly 1000 days after her wedding alongside her husband in a tragic plane crash.

Beyoncé
She is the queen of pop culture, and her style is always on point (just scroll through her Instagram), so when she tied the knot to her music mogul husband Jay Z back in 2008, you would expect her dress to be flawless.

Talk about sentimental.

Her wedding dress for her second marriage to bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay was one in a million and goes down in history as one of the most fashionable dresses ever.
Mansfield took this saying to heart when she donned the sensational and skin-tight dress covered with lace and sequins. But it is not the fit of the garment that made it iconic and rather the fact that it was practically transparent.
Allison Williams
One of the stars of the hit series Girls, as well as the Oscar-nominated film, Get Out, Allison Williams is exquisite and when she wed Ricky Van Veen in 2015, she was every image of a bridal princess.

Angelina Jolie
Hold back your tears - I know we are all still mourning the end of a favorite celeb power couple Brangelina, but we have to pay tribute to that stunning and incredibly sentimental wedding gown she donned to tie the knot to her longtime lover Brad Pitt back in 2014.
The stunning gown, made by her designer friend Atelier Versace featured a fitted bodice with a plain waist and flowing full skirt.
But what made this a creation of a lifetime was the veil, covered in an array of doodles designed by her children so they felt as part of the wedding as her and Brad.
Felicity Jones
Oscar Nominee Felicity Jones married director Charles Guard in a private, elegant wedding. The ceremony was held at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England.
Her custom-made Erdem Couture gown featured clean vintage lines and bespoke details. Jones stated that her favorite part of the dress were the buttons, which adorned the back, the neck, and the sleeves.
Audrey Hepburn
Although she will always be best remembered for that black dress and sunglasses when she stared longingly at the Tiffany windows, Hepburn’s wedding dress for her first walk down the aisle was iconic and deserves an honorable mention.
The tea-length flared piece with ballgown sleeves and a high neck designed by Pierre Balmain was the perfect choice for doe-eyes Hepburn. Combining sophistication and innocence, this definitely displayed her feminine gifts!
Chanel Iman
Chanel Iman and Sterling Shepard got married at an iconic Beverly Hills hotel in a star-studded wedding. Among the famous guests were Chrissy Teigen, Gabrielle Union, Odell Beckham Jr., Tiffany Haddish and Shanina Shaik.
The Victoria’s Secret Angel said ‘yes’ to a breathtaking Zuhair Murad dress featuring ornate floral embroidery. The happy pair was truly show stopping.
Katherine Schwarzenegger
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger truly seem head over heels for each other. They recently tied the knot in an intimate religious ceremony after a six month engagement.
Katherine took to Instagram: “Yesterday was the best day of our lives! We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love. It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives. We are so thankful to our families and our friends who stood with us, and grateful to Mr Giorgio Armani, who created a once in a lifetime dress for me to wear, and for Chris, the perfect suit. This morning we feel nothing but blessed.”
Idina Menzel
Broadway beauty Idina Menzel celebrated her wedding looking like a true princess when she wed rent star Aaron Lohr.
The stunning off-the-shoulder lace gown designed by Carolina Herrera was paired with Jimmy Choo shoes, jewels, and a magnificent headpiece.
Though she plays a Disney princess in Frozen, Idina got her chance to be a real princess here!
She was certainly feeling the wedding day excitement and tweeted, "Wanted to let you know married the love of my life this weekend at our home. Dad & son walked me down the aisle. It was magical."
