The pregnancy was a difficult one, to say the least. Marcy had to frequently go in for checkups for major pains and fatigue.
Thankfully, it was all worth it when the day finally arrived. Mark rushed Marcy into the delivery room, where she gave birth to her beautiful baby boy; she named him Dean after her grandfather.
Good For A While
Things were great for a long while, and the couple really thought things were perfect. A year shot by like it was nothing, and they were so proud of their little Dean.
But things were about to take a turn for the worse, and neither of them knew what had started it. It would end with one of them considering a divorce.
A Change In Behavior
It was a drastic change in behavior that the couple wasn’t expecting. Kitty, who had always been nothing but good, started freaking out for seemingly no reason.

Stopping Marcy
It started off with Kitty flicking her tail whenever Marcy picked Dean out of his crib. But it soon escalated into something much more than that.
The next day, he meowed when she picked up Dean as if trying to tell them something. Mark was unfortunately blind to what was going on.

The next day, Kitty seemed to want to take measures a little bit further. When Marcy went to pick Dean up, she freaked out and started hissing at her.
The cat jumped between her and the crib with her ears flat. This made Marcy jump back in surprise. What was going on?
Couldn’t Explain It
Marcy walked up to her long-time companion to see what was going on. “Hey. What was that for, Kitty?” The cat seemed normal again. But it was only the beginning.
Marcy petted her feline, and she started purring. In Marcy’s mind, her cat might have just been jealous of the attention she was giving her baby. But the truth was far more unsettling.
Like Night And Day
The difference in behavior was like night and day. As soon as Marcy went for her baby, Kitty would scream at her. But otherwise, the cat was perfectly docile.
Mark got up to see if Kitty would do the same thing. He walked up to the crib and started reaching for his son. But Marcy couldn’t believe what happened next.
No Reaction
Mark slowly grabbed his boy and carefully picked him up. The entire time, he watched the cat staring up at him.
He expected the same reaction she gave his wife. But it looked as if she was completely fine with him handling their son. He didn’t have a clue why this was the case.
In Tears
Behind him, he heard stifled whimpering. He looked over his shoulder and saw Marcy sitting on the couch, tears streaming down her face.
Mark rushed up to her side to comfort her. In his urgency, he hadn’t put Dean down. As soon as he was close to Marcy, Kitty started hissing again.
Comforting Her
Mark comforted his wife and put Dean back down. He told her that he’d put Kitty in another room so that she could touch her baby.
But Mark had no idea what he was facilitating. He should have been more intuned with what was really going on. But things were about to get more drastic.
Drastic Measures
That night, Mark could hear his wife struggling to sleep. He knew that her baby was still on her mind. He thought that it was unfair that she couldn’t touch him because of Kitty.
He knew that she’d never consider making a choice between the two of them, but he could make it easier. He just hoped she would forgive him.
One Last Try
The next day, Mark waited for Marcy to take a bath before sneaking out of the house. He coaxed her with some treats and managed to get her inside their pet carrier.
He knew exactly where he was going to take her. Hopefully, there will be a solution at the vet. If there wasn’t, he would still find a way of fixing the problem.
The Vet
When he got to the vet, he nervously waited to get an appointment with the veterinarian. While he waited, he stroked the fur of Kitty, who looked up at him. Could he really go through with this? He thought to himself.
But he didn’t have any more time to think. The doctor came out and beckoned him into the exam room.
A Good Reason
The Veterinarian looked over Kitty and told Mark that there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with the feline. She was healthy for her age and didn’t seem to have any problems.
But then Mark mentioned the strange behavior to the doctor. His demeanor changed immediately, and he looked back at the cat.
Everything Changed
He looked back at the cat and examined her again, this time looking for something else. After a few moments, he finished up and looked back at Mark.
“There’s no easy way to say this, but I think you should confront your wife. It isn’t your cat that’s the problem; it may be your wife.”
A Divorce
He didn’t understand, so he asked the doctor to elaborate, but all he said was, “Maybe consider getting a good divorce lawyer; that’s all the advice I can give you.”
Mark felt sick to his stomach. He’d have to go back and confront his wife with what the doctor told him, even if he didn’t exactly know why he had said it in the first place.
